Compare the three plans
The honest answer to "what's the catch?" is: there isn't one. Features are identical on every plan. You're choosing a team size, a number of branches, and the per-case rate that fits your volume — nothing more.
| Plan | Monthly base | Per case | Users | Branches |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $99 | $18 | Up to 3 | 1 |
| Professional | $149 | $15 | Up to 10 | 2 |
| Enterprise | $299 | $12 | Up to 25 | Up to 10 |
As a rule of thumb: a single-location home with a small team fits Starter, most growing homes land on Professional, and multi-branch groups get the best per-case rate on Enterprise. The calculator above does the maths for your exact volume.
Every plan includes 100% of features

How the funeral software cost is calculated
Your bill has exactly two parts. The first is the monthly base — $99, $149, or $299 depending on your plan — billed in advance, like any subscription. The second is the per-case fee, billed in arrears, so you only ever pay for cases you actually managed that month. There are no per-user fees within your plan's limits, no setup modules to license, and no annual contract to sign.
A case is counted exactly once, at the moment it's created. That applies to at-need funerals and pre-arranged plans alike — and when a pre-arrangement later becomes an at-need case, it is never recounted. Enquiries are always free, so your team can log every phone call and walk-in without watching the meter. There's no limit on how many cases you can manage in a month.
Every account starts with a 14-day free trial at full Professional level, with no credit card required. If you don't subscribe when the trial ends, your account simply pauses — nothing is charged. And because there are no lock-in contracts, you can change plans or cancel at any time as your caseload changes. For the regulatory side of quoting and itemised pricing, see our post on funeral pricing compliance; for a broader look at evaluating systems, start with the funeral home software guide.
It's also worth weighing the funeral software cost against what it replaces. Directors using FuneralBuddy report saving around six hours of admin per case — time previously spent re-keying BDM forms, chasing quote approvals by phone, and reconciling a separate invoicing tool. At any reasonable hourly rate, a single case more than covers its own per-case fee, and the Family Portal and electronic compliance lodgement come along at no extra charge. That's why we publish every number on this page rather than hiding pricing behind a sales call: when the maths is this straightforward, transparency is the best pitch we have. You can read what working directors say about the switch on our reviews page.
FuneralBuddy serves funeral homes across Australia and New Zealand, and is built and supported by CTV Software Pty Ltd in Queensland. Pricing is in Australian dollars on every plan, and your data remains yours — exportable at any time, whether you stay or go.
Common questions about cost
More questions — about onboarding, data migration, security, and the Family Portal — are answered on the full FAQ page.
How much does FuneralBuddy cost per month?
It depends on your plan and case volume. Starter is $99/month plus $18 per case, Professional is $149/month plus $15 per case, and Enterprise is $299/month plus $12 per case. A home handling 10 cases a month on Professional, for example, pays $149 + 10 × $15 = $299. Use the calculator above to see your exact number.
Are any features locked behind the higher plans?
No. Every plan includes 100% of features — the Family Portal, BDM compliance, AI tools, Xero and MYOB integration, everything on the features page. Plans differ only by the number of users, the number of branches, and the per-case rate.
Which cases am I billed for?
Each case is billed exactly once, when it's created — at-need funerals and pre-arranged plans alike. When a pre-arrangement later becomes an at-need case, it is not counted again. Enquiries never count at all, and there's no limit on the number of cases you can manage.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
Sign up and you get 14 days of full access at Professional level — no credit card required. When you're ready, pick a plan and subscribe from inside the app. If you don't subscribe, your account simply pauses and nothing is charged. Start your trial here.
Is there a lock-in contract or cancellation fee?
No. FuneralBuddy is month to month with no lock-in contracts and no cancellation fees. You can move between Starter, Professional, and Enterprise as your caseload changes, or cancel at any time. We'd rather keep you with a great product than a contract.
What if we grow past 25 users or 10 branches?
Enterprise covers up to 25 users and up to 10 branches, which suits the vast majority of Australian and New Zealand funeral groups. If you're larger than that, get in touch and we'll work out an arrangement that fits — we serve homes of every size.
